Tale
It follows a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts who use the town’s sudden interest in the occult to establish a reputation as a satanic metal band, until a strange series of events sets off a witch hunt that brings them back together. All episode titles are from songs by heavy metal/hard rock bands. Hysteria by Def Lepard, Heaven’s on fire by KISS, Speaking in languages by Meatloaf, Can I play with madness by Iron Maiden, Die young by Black Sabbath, Mother by Danzig, It’s late by Queen and Dance Macabre by Ghost..
The parents are what you would expect from an 80s TV show
Peacock is not my usual streamer, but I got a good price for it. Anyway, I wasn’t expecting much but I love a good horror comedy and this was better than expected. I like that it was set in the 80’s because it gave it a "leave it to the beaver" feel it.
The second story is that all the adults go into frothy religious hysteria (get it) over their kids
When a teenage soccer star disappears and is later found in what appears to be a ritualistic death, two stories begin to spin in parallel. Three outcasts who have a hard rock band that no one attends decide to use it as a way to get publicity for their band. They convince everyone that they are Satanists who work for a while, but then make them prime suspects in a murder.
The two main characters are Linda and Tracey
Tracey is a good villain in this, as she is perfectly willing to use Linda’s fear of not understanding her son and his decisions as a way to whip the town into hysteria. This show isn’t perfect, but it says interesting things about how parents worry they don’t understand their kids when they don’t follow the plan he gave them. But it also shows that there is real danger masked by fear and paranoia.
